Martin started saving the places worth seeing onto a map — for himself, and for friends who kept asking for tips. From that personal map, the idea of a platform that brings travel, photography and design together began to take shape.

It Started With One Question — and More Always Followed.
We travel a lot — and from every trip we bring back not just memories, but stacks of photos, videos and notes. Friends started asking us not only how it was, but when to go, what's worth seeing, and how to get around.
So we put the answers to these and many other questions in one place — and Retkee was born. No outdated PDFs, no Instagram stories that vanish in 24 hours. We're building the kind of place we'd want to use ourselves when planning the next trip.

You'll never see a "recommended" restaurant that paid for the better spot. We won't recommend anything we don't believe in ourselves – even if it looks great on a spreadsheet.

Every place you find on Retkee has a real trip behind it – ours, or one from a verified creator. Without that, it would be just another generic guide, and there are plenty of those already.

AI is a great assistant, but the story, the taste and the feel for a place can only come from someone who actually stood there and looked. Retkee is signed by people.

A Word From the Founder
It started with pins in Google Maps. For years I kept saving the places worth visiting — viewpoints, beaches, places to stay, parking spots. When the map wasn't enough and friends kept asking the same questions, I started building Retkee. I brought together everything I'd been doing for years – photo, video, design, product – and built a place where anyone who doesn't have four evenings to dig through blogs can find a plan.

2019
2020
TRVL.cz Launches
The platform for trips around Czechia goes live — at a time when domestic travel was the only option. The project ramped up alongside Covid and found its first users right away.
2023
Return and Expansion
After nearly three years of quiet, the project came back to life and opened up to more creators – people who share the same drive to inspire others. We started adding new destinations alongside Czechia.
2024
From Places to Itineraries
Complete itineraries joined the detailed places – to this day the most distinctive part of the platform. They turn individual stops into plans that know when to arrive, where to park, and what to fit in along the way.
2025
Rebrand to Retkee
TRVL.cz becomes Retkee. The name comes from the Finnish retki – an expedition, a trip with a purpose. Same team, bigger ambitions, content in both Czech and English.

Opening Up to the World
We're adding new guides and richer content that ties together everything Retkee offers – places, itineraries, trips, and articles. We're opening the door to new creators from across Europe and preparing more destinations.
