Flight tickets

Helsinki can be reached comfortably in a short two-hour flight. But if you're looking for more adventure, you can take a car or camper van. However, this is only recommended if you have Helsinki on the way as part of a longer holiday. For a long weekend, this would not be the most convenient option.

Day 1

Surroundings and nature

Although this trip to Helsinki, we start a little unconventionally - in its surroundings, where you can relax in nature. Upon arrival, you'll leave the hustle and bustle of the capital and head to the quiet outskirts of Helsinki, where a pleasant environment and relaxation in the heart of nature awaits you.

From the airport, it’s easiest to take the train directly to Helsinki Central Station in the centre of Helsinki (costing €4.10 per person). The main station is a key point for your onward journey, whether you’re continuing on to different parts of the city or returning here on your departure.

On the way, stop at one of the convenience stores and buy something to eat for the evening and for breakfast. You’ll have everything you need on hand without having to find a restaurant in the evening. Either directly at the main station or across the street at the shopping centre.

TIP: For a leisurely way around the city, buy a 3-day ticket for 18 euros per person.

From Central Station, take the M1 or M2 metro line to Herrtoniemi station. From there, change to a bus that will take you to the Hevossalmentie stop – from there you walk to the tiny houses of the majamaja (the route is marked with signs directly from the majamaja).

Thanks to this accommodation, you can comfortably experience how well the local public transport works on your first day.

From the bus it is only a short walk to the tiny house. You will quickly feel at home and easily get in the mood for relaxation.

In addition, it is a great base for walks along the coast, where you can fully enjoy Finnish nature in its purest form.

Tiny houses majamaja are small retreats by the water, where you will be surrounded by the calm and the sound of the sea. Although the flight to Helsinki is relatively short, the first day is ideal to spend in peace and recharge your batteries for the following days of urban exploration.

He likes to go up north or basically anywhere that's cold. This time he tried to go to Finland in the summer, but it was warm there too, so he will have to do it again. He also likes burgers, which shows in the composition of his restaurant recommendations.
