The Archaeological Park of Naples is located in the city of Syracuse on the island of Sicily in Italy and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the area. The park is rich in historical and cultural monuments that reveal the rich past of this ancient city.
The Naples Archaeological Park tour offers 3 basic routes, which vary in length and the number of attractions you will see along the way. The shortest green route will take you 45 minutes, the medium red route 60 minutes and the longest blue route 90 minutes (see the map in the gallery). We chose the middle one and it was a great choice.
The key sights you can see in the park are:
Greek Theatre (Teatro Greco) – one of the largest and best preserved ancient theatres in the world. It dates back to the 5th century BC and was able to accommodate up to 15,000 spectators.
Roman Amphitheatre (Anfiteatro Romano) – a large amphitheatre from the time of the Roman Emperor Augustus, used for gladiatorial matches and other public games
Latomie del Paradiso and the Ear of Dionysus (Orecchio di Dionisio) – ancient quarries from which stones were extracted for the construction of the city, the Orecchio di Dionisio is a huge ear-shaped cave with excellent acoustics, which is said to have been used as a prison.
Ara di Ierone II – a monumental altar dating from the 3rd century BC dedicated to Zeus, which was built in honour of the victory over the Carthaginians.

You can park right at the main entrance car park, on the street around the entrance to the park, or in the centre of Syracuse from where you can walk or use local transport.
In and around the park itself, you’ll find cafeterias and food stalls, or even a few restaurants with beautiful views and local Sicilian cuisine.
The entrance fee to the park is quite high, where you pay per adult 16.5 €. But if you are interested in the history of this place, you will not regret this investment.

Parking on the street near the main entrance to the Archaeological Park of Naples. Plenty of space for cars and motorhomes up to 6 meters. If you can’t find a space, we recommend checking adjacent streets like Viale Teracati, which have convenient longitudinal parking. In high season, be wary of scammers trying to collect parking fees in uniform. You will be happy to pay through Easypark.
