Busselton Jetty is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Western Australia. Stretching 1,841 metres into the Indian Ocean, this iconic wooden jetty is the longest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
One of the main attractions is the underwater observatory at the end of the pier, where you can descend to a depth of 8 metres and admire the rich marine ecosystem. The crystal clear water reveals colourful corals, fish and other marine animals that have made their home around the pier. For those who don’t want to walk all the way, there is a tourist train that will take you comfortably to the end of the pier. However, if you don’t mind a walk of less than 4 kilometres, we recommend going on foot – you won’t save much time by taking the train, and where else are you going to walk less than 2 kilometres over the ocean.
In addition to the pier, there is also a great beach with an area for swimmers, the so-called Lap swimmers course, where you can swim in peace in an area surrounded by nets – one lap (“lap”) is 900 metres long. Of course, it is possible to change clothes on site and there are also toilets – right next to the car park.
