Place description

A car park, a lake and a waterfall; Flotane is an ideal place to stop or even stay overnight while traversing Norway’s Aurlandsfjellet National Scenic Trail, which winds around the fjords and plateaus of western Norway. Flotane offers access to Lake Flotvatnet with its namesake waterfall and a variety of shorter or longer hikes to other lakes and waterfalls on the plateau.

Although the site is located on a relatively isolated plateau in the middle of Norway, there is a wide road leading to the site, which is easy to reach with any vehicle, including a caravan; the only drawback is the unavailability of mobile signal, for which you have to run up one of the surrounding hills. The car park itself allows overnight parking and provides facilities in the form of clean and well-maintained toilets and benches.
