Holyrood Castle

Holyrood Castle, originally the Palace of Holyroodhouse, is the official residence of the British monarch in Edinburgh, Scotland and is located at the end of the Royal Mile. Elizabeth II usually spent a week here at the beginning of the summer. In the absence of members of the royal family, the castle is open to the public. The castle is surrounded by beautiful gardens which can be explored as part of a visit.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online. The price includes an audio guide, unfortunately it is not available in Czech, but if you speak English or other languages, it is a very interesting commentary on the tour itself. The tour will take you about an hour, of course you can spend much more time here, it’s up to you. We have to say that it is a very nice castle and the tour was interesting. It’s not every day you see the royal family welcoming their guests or dining at a giant table.

Just keep in mind that photos can only be taken outdoors, indoors is forbidden.
