Place description

Hvítserkur is a basalt rock formation on the northern coast of Iceland that rises above the sea. This rock formation has become one of the iconic symbols of Iceland’s natural heritage. If you know it from photos, you might be a little surprised to see it on the spot, at least it struck us as much bigger than it actually is – 15 metres high. From the car park, walk for a few minutes along the only path there and you’ll reach the viewing point at Hvítserkur.

The road to the place is not completely paved, so expect a slower ride and if you drive a classic car and not an SUV, the ride will probably even massage you a bit.
