Place description
If you’re planning to trek in the Passo Falzarego valley, you’re bound to pass the small turquoise lake Lago di Limides. The lake is at an altitude of 2,172 m above sea level and reaches a maximum depth of 1 m. It is just a few minutes’ walk from the main car park. If the weather is good, make a stop here and try to catch the reflection of the rock massif of Mount Lagazuoi, which is mirrored on the surface of the lake. The mountain is also interesting because there are ferratas created by soldiers as escape routes during World War I.
There are countless hiking trails in the area, which will take you to the famous Cinque Torri rock tower and the ferrata around the Lagazuoi peak, for example. If you’d like to extend your trip, you can follow the same route from the lake to the Rifugio Averau mountain hut. You will be rewarded with even more epic views of the peaks of the Nuvolau mountain group.
