Nature’s Window is another very popular natural attraction in Kalbarri National Park, located in Western Australia, approximately 570 kilometres north of Perth. This iconic rock formation was created by the natural erosion of red sandstone and provides a unique ‘frame’ for spectacular views of the Murchison River and surrounding canyon. It is a popular spot for photography and one of the most recognisable scenery in all of Australia.
There is a short hiking trail, about 1 km long, leading to Nature’s Window from the parking lot, which is easily accessible. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take the more challenging Loop Trail from here, which is approximately 9 kilometres long and offers even more breathtaking views of the canyon and Australian wildlife. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is low and the rocks are turning amazing shades of orange and red. During the summer months for Australia (November – March), the Loop Trail is off-limits after 7am.
We went to Nature’s Window a little after sunrise, the place was only a few people and it was not so warm yet – and it was beautiful.
