Piazza della Signoria is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful squares in Florence, a place rich in history, art and politics. Surrounded by important historical buildings and statues, this square is not only a symbolic meeting point but also an important cultural and tourist destination.

Piazza della Signoria has roots dating back to the Middle Ages, when the ancient Forum of Florence stood here. However, the piazza took its present form during the Renaissance and Baroque periods, when culture and art flourished here. The centre of the square is dominated by the Palazzo Vecchio, an imposing Florentine Renaissance-style palace that served as the residence of Florentine rulers.

The square is the natural centre of cultural life in Florence. Around the square there are museums, galleries, historic palaces and churches. Among the most important works of art are sculptures such as Michelangelo’s famous David or Benvenuto Cellini’s bronze Perseus.
