Just 10 km north of Münster’s city center, the Rieselfelder is a 230-hectare nature reserve and a peaceful escape from urban life. Originally used for wastewater irrigation in the early 20th century, the area today features meadows, orchards, ponds, and willow groves, providing a sanctuary for many bird species.
In winter, the Rieselfelder becomes magical: frost coats the plants, a soft mist rises over the water, and every tree branch glitters with ice. Visitors can stroll along nature trails, enjoy the quiet, watch birds from observation hides, or climb the lookout tower for a breathtaking view of the frosted landscape. The Biological Station provides informative displays and makes the area perfect for both nature lovers and curious visitors alike.
There are several walking options -from short route of around 2 km to larger one that circles almosst entire Rieselfelder area, covering approximately 7 km.
