Prague is not only the mother of cities, but also a very diverse area with a large number of hills. Thanks to these hills, Prague and its surroundings have several beautiful views and vistas, which we will look at in today’s post.

1. Doubravka lookout tower

And let’s start with one of the most popular views in Prague. It is a wooden structure from 2018, which offers views of the Černý Most and Hostavice, between which it is located. The path to the lookout tower leads either from Hostavice or Stary Kyje and it is a short walk suitable for both children and four-legged pets.

The Doubravka tower is located between Hostavice and Černý Most and offers a great view of the surroundings. The lookout tower, which was completed in 2018 and is the work of architect Martin Rajniš, is particularly interesting for its acacia wood construction. However, for the weaker natures, we will tell you in advance that climbing those 98 steps up does not feel that stable.

There are mobile toilets on site and there was a caravan with refreshments in the summer months (in 2019).

2. Dívčí skok Viewpoint

The second tip for a beautiful view of Prague is the Dívčí skok lookout in the Divoká Šárka Nature Reserve in Prague 6. The Divoká Šárka area offers countless smaller lookouts of the nearby surroundings, hiking trails and the quiet surroundings of the Šárecký Brook. If you are looking for peace and quiet just a few minutes from the centre of Prague, easily accessible by car or public transport, Divoká Šárka is the right choice. The cherry on top is the view from Dívčí skok.

The lookout marked Dívčí skok is one of the many interesting places in the Divoká Šárka Nature Reserve in Prague 6. The rock formation is accessible along the red trail from the Džbán reservoir, from which you will have to turn left at the first turn and climb up a fairly steep hill. On this hill you will reach the Dívčí skok (Girl’s Jump) in the right direction, the opposite direction will lead you to Kozákov Rock.

At the viewpoint you will get a beautiful view of a large part of the Divoká Šárka River, which is worth it especially at sunset.

3. Lookout tower Závist

Today’s last tip for a short trip for a beautiful view of Prague is the Závist lookout tower, near Dolní Břežany. It is a very modern lookout tower built in 2021, which is open all year round, is free of charge and offers beautiful views not only of the southwestern part of Prague, but also of the surrounding countryside. As always, you can find out more about the lookout tower and the way to it in the details of the place here on Retkee.

Lookout tower Závist

Dolní Brezany - Lhota

The wooden lookout tower Závist is located on the top of the 389-metre high Hradiště Mountain, which is almost on the border of the Central Bohemian Region and the capital city of Prague. It offers a beautiful view not only of the surrounding area, including the Cukrák or Zbraslav transmitter, but also of almost the whole of Prague.

The lookout tower is located just a few metres from the remains of the Celtic oppidum Závist, whose history dates back to about 175 BC. However, due to the protection of this historical monument, the site was filled in in 2003, so don’t expect to see everything in detail. However, several information signs in the area will give you an idea.

The best way to get to the lookout tower is from the parking lot at the end of Dolní Břežany, from where you can either take the cycle path or the green hiking trail, from which you can turn onto the yellow trail at the Hradiště crossroads. Then you will have a slightly steeper climb directly to the lookout tower. One trip is a little over 3 km, so allow at least 1.5 hours for the whole trip (6.3 km).

There are certainly more sights and views not only in the vicinity of Prague, you can easily find other places in the tips for places and trips around the Czech Republic.
