Direct flights from Prague to Iceland are back! Play offers 2x weekly travel

Iceland’s peak visitor season is back! This is confirmed by the return of the regular Prague – Keflavík route, which is the easiest way to get to this island of ice and fire from the Czech Republic. On Thursday 25. 4. In 2024, the first flight on this route will be operated by Play airlines.

Play is one of the newest airlines in Europe – an Icelandic low-cost carrier. It currently offers connections between the Czech Republic and Iceland twice a week, namely on Thursdays and Sundays, for prices starting from EUR 70 per one way (approximately CZK 1,800). If you are looking to embark on new adventures and discover majestic waterfalls, endless black beaches, volcanoes and glaciers, Play may be the right choice for you.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get a glimpse of an active volcano before you arrive.

Berlin as an alternative

Another alternative for travel from Prague is the Berlin – Keflavík line, which Play offers virtually all year round. For example, we chose this option on our (so far) last trip to Iceland in early February this year. And thanks to this experience, we can confirm that Play is a good choice. The company’s fleet includes modern Airbus A321 neo aircraft, for example, and sure, the aircraft amenities are austere, with no food included or screens in the seat in front of you – but you still need to keep in mind that the airline’s main goal is to get you to your destination safely and cheaply. And Play does that perfectly.

TIP: We’ve put together a packed itinerary of 5-7 days for your trip to Iceland , so you can experience the best of the south-east coast of Iceland.

Even compared to the other airlines we have experience with on our trip to Iceland – Smartwings and Lufthansa – Play did very well indeed. Be it the organisation, the modern and clean aircraft or such little things as the flight attendants’ clothing. In fact, don’t expect any engineered scarves, but a comfortable red suit with a white t-shirt and white Nike Airforce.

So we’d have a flight – what next? An absolute must when visiting Iceland is to rent a car. A car will give you complete freedom as to which places to visit and when. Moreover, driving in Iceland is completely hassle-free, especially in the summer season, and there’s nothing to worry about. Thanks to TRVL.cz, you will also get a 5% discount at Blue Car Rental when you book a vehicle through this link.

Now all you have to do is plan each day properly so that you can make the most of your holiday.
