The Braun’s Nativity Scene (Braun’s Bethlehem) nature trail will take you through the monumental sculptural art from the 18th century. It is the largest sculpture gallery freely accessible in the countryside. Here you will see large sculptures carved from stone and rock reliefs created by the famous Baroque artist Matthias Bernard Braun. From Hřibojed you can follow this forest circular trail to the Kuks Hospital. The whole circuit is about 7 km long.
Braun’s Nativity Scene was intended to serve as a tool for pointing out the lack of piety among the Jesuits and emphasizing that reverence for the Lord should be guided more by Count Spork’s exemplary attitude. The peaceful landscape full of statues, rock chapels, wells and benches was to be a place of contemplation and meditation for the spa guests of Kuks.
We’ll be happy to create a personalized itinerary.
If you would like to stay overnight in your caravan, leave it parked in the large car park by the forest behind the village of Hřibojedy.
