Černohorské rašeliniště (peat bog) is a unique natural locality in the Krkonoše National Park, which offers a completely different atmosphere than the surrounding mountain ridges. It is located at an altitude of around 1,200 m and is known for its unique tundra landscape, rare plant species and peaceful atmosphere. In addition, there is a nature trail with wooden walkways and a lookout tower, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding nature. The trail also offers a beautiful view of Sněžka, the highest mountain in the Czech Republic.
The peat bog can be easily reached from the top of Černá Hora, where you can take the Černohorský Express cable car from Janské Lázně. From there, a well-marked circuit of approximately 6 km with an elevation gain of 160 metres takes you through the most interesting parts of the whole area. The trail is suitable for hikers of all ages and thanks to its gentle profile you can manage it even with larger children. The moor itself is on flat ground, but there is a path leading uphill and downhill to and from it.
On the way you can have a snack right at the top station of the cable car, where you can find refreshments, or have something warm in the nearby hotel Černá bouda. A trip to Černohorské peat bog is a great combination of convenient accessibility, beautiful nature and the opportunity to spend the day actively and at a leisurely pace.
