Eagle Gorge

Eagle Gorge is one of those places in Kalbarri National Park that you will instantly fall in love with. From the clifftop lookout, you’ll get a breathtaking view of the dramatic coastline and turquoise Indian Ocean. The gorge itself cuts deep into the coastline and the surrounding rock formations, battered by wind and waves, create a beautiful, wild backdrop. It’s the perfect place to take a photo and take in the incredible power of nature for a while.

But unlike many other viewpoints in the park, you don’t have to stay just at the top. In fact, there is a trail leading down from the cliff to a smaller, but all the more beautiful beach that hides right in the gorge. It’s a magical place, surrounded by high cliffs, where you can see the geological formations up close and enjoy the atmosphere of the place from a completely different perspective.

The way down does require a bit of caution, as it descends on rocks and natural stairs, but it is not technically demanding. Most people can make it without too much trouble, and the reward of staying on this semi-hidden beach is definitely worth it. It’s a great combination of epic views from above and a little adventure as you descend to the sea.
