The Giant Tingle Tree is located near the town of Walpole in the southern part of Western Australia. This ancient Red Tingle tree (Eucalyptus jacksonii) is considered the largest of its kind in the world, with a trunk circumference of over 24 meters. Its massive hollow, created by natural fire and age, is so large that several people can comfortably fit inside.
A short trail, approximately 800 meters long, leads to the giant tree, taking visitors deep into the ancient forest. During the walk, you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of dense vegetation, lush green ferns, and spot local birds hiding in the treetops. Information boards along the way provide interesting details about the tree’s history, forest ecology, and the importance of tingle trees to the local ecosystem.
The Giant Tingle Tree is part of Walpole-Nornalup National Park, which is famous not only for these giant eucalypts but also for the renowned Tree Top Walk in the Valley of the Giants, where you can walk among the treetops at heights of up to 40 meters above the ground.
