The Lofoten Aquarium, although smaller in size, offers a fascinating insight into the mysterious underwater world that surrounds Lofoten.
Located in the picturesque town of Kabelvåg, Lofotakvariet boasts the title of Norway’s northernmost aquarium. Inside you’ll find a diverse selection of marine animals, from tiny molluscs to majestic fish that are at home in the cold waters of the Norwegian coast.
One of the main attractions is the large seal pool, where you can admire five differently aged individuals, most of which were rescued and now have a safe home here. The smaller pool next door is home to a river otter named Eddie. The twice-daily feeding of the seals and Eddie is an experience not to be missed.
The interior of the aquarium hides various species of fish and molluscs, and for the more contact-oriented visitors there is a touch tank where they can gently stroke stingrays and other fish.
The aquarium also hosts a number of themed exhibitions that focus on marine biology, the history of fishing in Lofoten and the importance of the world’s oceans to our ecosystem.
You can park on site in front of the property without any problems and your visit will take no more than 2 hours. We definitely recommend visiting this place.
