Lookout tower Na Chlumu

If you are looking for an unpretentious trip connected with history and a beautiful view, a great choice is the Lookout Tower Na Chlumu near Slatiňany. This wooden tower was built at the turn of the 19. and the 20th century at the instigation of Prince František Josef Auersperg as a fire lookout and a place for views in the then hunting preserve.

The lookout tower can be reached from the Podhůra Recreational Forest, where several marked trails lead. Nearby is another interesting lookout point – the Bára Lookout Tower, a unique wooden structure with a futuristic look. The route to the lookout tower is easy and well marked, so even less skilled hikers can manage it. Another interesting stop in the area is Kočičí hrádek, a small stone imitation of a castle, which is especially popular among children.

During our visit, we appreciated not only the tranquility and beautiful location of the tower in nature, but also the opportunity to use the local fireplace to roast sausages and even spend the night inside the building, which added a unique experience to the trip. We combined our trip with a visit to Kočičí hrádek (Cat’s Castle), Švýcárna (Switzer’s Shop) and Monaco restaurant, which perfectly complemented the atmosphere of this romantic corner hidden in the forest. The Na Chlumu lookout tower is an ideal place to relax, where you can not only enjoy the surrounding nature, but also sit by the fire and enjoy a pleasant day in a peaceful environment.
