The Mühlenhof Open-Air Museum (Freilichtmuseum Mühlenhof) is a special place where the culture and history of Münsterland are preserved. Spread over 5 hectares near centre of Münster at the bank of the lake Aasee, the museum features 30 historic buildings from the 17th to 20th centuries, some original, some carefully reconstructed, all furnished to give visitors a real sense of life in past centuries.
Every year, during all four Advent weekends, the museum transforms into a magical Christmas setting – Westphalian Christmas Market. Visitors can explore lovingly decorated wooden huts offering a variety of Christmas goods, enjoy other seasonal stalls, and experience a colorful program including children’s craft activities, storytelling, visits from Saint Nicholas, and musical performances.
The historic atmosphere of the Mühlenhof, with buildings up to 400 years old, makes this Christmas market truly unique.
