Ørnfløya

Ørnfløya is a beautiful viewpoint near the fishing village of Sommarøy, about 60 km west of Tromsø. It lies at an altitude of approximately 150 metres above sea level and offers panoramic views of the surrounding archipelago, the turquoise waters of the Arctic Ocean and mountain peaks in the distance. The climb to Ørnfløya is short but steeper – the total distance is about 2.8 kilometres with an elevation gain of just over 150 metres. The hike up takes approximately 20-30 minutes, and the reward is breathtaking scenery that changes in every season – from summer sunsets to autumn colours to winter landscapes under the aurora borealis.

For us, it really is a beautiful place that is worth the relatively short hike. Seeing the island of Sommarøy, including the bridge leading to it, along with the beautiful Norwegian countryside, is really worth it. It’s also a less “famous” place, so chances are you’ll enjoy it like we did – all by yourself.

TIP: If you have a drone with you, we recommend you to “fly” over the bridge, the shots from the height are really incredible!
