In Porto Moniz you can enjoy a spectacular view of the ocean and the coastline. The area is famous for its natural pools, which are ideal for swimming and relaxing. You can also enjoy fresh fish and seafood at one of the local restaurants and taste the local wine. There are also many hiking trails in the area where you can explore the beautiful nature and panoramas. The area is often very windy.

There are two natural swimming pools, one is free and the other is paid. We only made it to the free one because of the weather and it was definitely worth it. Bring your swimsuit, slippers, towel and be careful, the algae on the bottom is quite slippery.

Parking

There are several paid and unpaid parking lots in Porto Moniz. We parked right next to the natural pools, where you could only pay in cash at a machine.

Flying with a drone

There is no outright ban in the area and we have seen clouds of photos of photogenic pools from the drone, however, almost in the middle of the city there is a heliport, which can be probably the only obstacle for flying with a drone.
