Place description

On the west coast of Seixal, there are natural saltwater pools that are naturally filled with seawater from the surf. The pools are a combination of lava rock and man-made access to different sections and are free to access. Provided the ocean is relatively calm and there is no wind, this is a unique stop for a dip in the ocean; however, if it’s windy and the ocean is creating big waves, it’s better to just enjoy the waves crashing against the reefs from a safe distance and leave swimming in the natural pools for another time.

The pools are free to use and you can park on the main promenade of Seixal above the cliffs above the pools. There is a fairly steep path to the pools with a number of steps to climb on the way there and back; however, the unique ocean swimming spot is definitely worth it.
