Salmon Holes is located in Torndirrup National Park near the town of Albany on the south coast of Western Australia. This beautiful bay is known for its crystal-clear water, dramatic cliffs, and powerful ocean waves that give the place a wild and untamed character.
The main attraction of Salmon Holes is fishing, especially during the salmon run that takes place in spring and autumn. This is where fishers can enjoy a unique experience – watching huge schools of Australian salmon moving through the shallow coastal waters. Besides fishers, the spot is also popular with photographers and tourists who come for the breathtaking ocean views.
Access to the beach is via a steep staircase, but the view of the ocean is well worth it. Due to strong waves and dangerous undertows, swimming isn’t recommended here, but you can enjoy a pleasant walk along the beach and admire the wild coastline. We think it’s definitely worth the walk; it’s just a short distance from the parking lot and you might even have the place all to yourself, just like we did.
