The Santuario della Madonna di Dinnammare is a sacred place located on the coast near the town of Messina in northeastern Sicily. The drive up from Messina will take you more than 25 minutes and there are some serious curves, so take care on your way up the mountain. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, this holy site attracts visitors not only for its historical significance, but also for its spectacular views of Mount Etna and mainland Italy.
The Santuario della Madonna di Dinnammare has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, when the first church was built here. Since then, it has undergone several renovations and modifications, but still retains its original atmosphere and spiritual significance for the local population. Every year the faithful come here to pray and pay their respects to the Virgin Mary. The façade is decorated with reliefs and statues that tell biblical stories and legends related to the Virgin Mary. Inside you will find a beautifully decorated interior with an altar and statues of saints.
