Smrk Lookout Tower

Fancy a full day? Don’t hold your ground and try to climb the highest peak of the Jizera Mountains. Our route was 17 km long and led through the Nebeské stairs and a beautiful panoramic view from the top of Paličník. Park at the free parking lot in Lázně Libverda and follow the red trail to the Hubertka hut. You will climb up a steep hill through the forest. During the climb you can continuously fortify yourself with antioxidants from blueberries and cool your sore calves in the stream.

Once you join the tarmac road, the path becomes gentler. Follow this path to the Heavenly Steps signpost and enjoy the climb up the 630 m long wooden footbridges. Continue along the red trail to the Na Písčinách crossroads. Then look for the signpost that will take you along the yellow trail to the Paličník lookout. The viewpoint is reached by steps carved into the rock. The ascent is also equipped with ropes and railings for safety. If you own a drone, we recommend making a longer stop here and flying around the area.

From Paličník, follow the yellow trail to the village of Hejnice, along the Hejný Brook. Here you can make another stop at the Poustevníkův kámen lookout. You will see several small waterfalls and cross the stream on footbridges. You can get back to your car on the green trail, again slightly uphill on the asphalt road. Allow 6-7 hours for the whole tour.

You can do this trip with children, but without a stroller.
