Place description

Špilberk Castle is clearly the dominant feature of Brno. It can be reached from many sides, all leading up a fairly steep hill. On the way up, don’t forget to stop, for example, at the viewing arbour. There are several refreshments waiting for you at the castle and there are also many nice seating areas. In warm weather, the castle is very lively – many people often gather here and it is especially beautiful before sunset.

Špilberk Castle was built in the 13th century and today it is, among other things, the seat of the Brno City Museum and the Brno City Gallery, and in summer it hosts Shakespearean festivals. The castle offers several sightseeing tours, information about them can be found on the official website.
