Svatý Jan pod Skalou is not only a village in Central Bohemia, but also a very popular rock viewpoint. It offers a beautiful view not only of the village but also of the surrounding countryside. A steep path leads to the viewpoint directly from the centre of the small village along the red hiking trail. Be prepared for an elevation gain of about 160 metres, but it is well worth the climb. You will be rewarded with beautiful views.
And if you have more time in the area than just to climb this popular viewpoint, we recommend extending your route back to Svatý Jan pod Skalou via the so-called Svatoyánský circuit, which leads through the Solvay quarries. The whole route is just over 4 km long and is a pleasant walk.
We’ll be happy to create a personalized itinerary.
We recommend parking directly in the village of Svatý Jan pod Skalou, where there are 2 paid parking lots near the red hiking trail. One is located right next to the Benedictine Monastery Svatý Jan pod Skalou, the other is just across the main street.
