Place description

Vestrahorn is one of the most iconic places in Iceland. It is located on the southeast coast, about 10 minutes drive from Höfn. This place is unique with its dramatic cliffs, black beach and grassy dunes. You can get right up to Stokksnes beach, but you have to buy a car “ticket” at the local café at the barrier at the beginning of the beach.

The Vestrahorn is a popular place for photography. Every season offers a different charm. The beach is covered with grass in summer and snow in winter. Almost every season, however, you can expect very strong winds that can make your visit to this place a bit unpleasant.
