Vulkana Spa

Vulkana Spa is a unique “spa” in Tromsø, located on a converted fishing boat, offering the perfect combination of relaxation and Arctic adventure. This floating spa experience includes a hot bath overlooking the fjords, a traditional Finnish sauna and a Japanese ofuro bath where you can enjoy a warming contrast to the freezing Nordic climate.

For the more adventurous guests, there is also the option of a refreshing jump into the icy water, a popular ritual that improves circulation and boosts immunity. We can definitely recommend this experience of jumping into ice water. The icy water (it was 2.9 degrees when we visited in February 2025) basically beats the adrenaline of jumping off the boat, so you don’t even notice the temperature as much. Within the ship it is possible to refresh yourself at the bar between the sauna, hardening or relaxing in the relax zone. Because the spa is really small, you don’t have to expect crowds – on the contrary, you can enjoy a personal touch and the opportunity to chat with the friendly staff.

TIP: If the forecast is good, there is a chance to observe the Northern Lights directly from the ship.
