Place description

A day hike from Vals, via the Fane Alm, takes you to the mountain lake Wilder See. The lake lies in the valley between the Kalkgrubenspitz (2,738 m above sea level) and the Wilde Kreuzspitze (3,135 m above sea level). A hiking tour will take you through the most beautiful places in the area.

You can leave your car in the car park at Fane Alm, from where you can walk along the marked trail no. 17. The circuit is 16 km long, with an elevation gain of 1,165 m. The landscape of the south-western part of the Zillertal Alps looks very Scandinavian. Along the way you will meet lots of cows, marmots and mountain huts where you can warm up and refresh yourself.

There are also trails suitable for downhill bikes leading uphill and we would definitely recommend this trip to more experienced cyclists. On the other hand, the path is not suitable for small children and strollers. There are also some very narrow unpaved paths just before the Wilder See viewpoint, where there are safety ropes.
