Bremer Bay

Bremer Bay is one of Western Australia’s best-kept secrets. This small coastal town boasts stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and abundant wildlife, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and those looking to relax.

Bremer Bay is a great starting point for exploring Fitzgerald River National Park, one of Australia’s most significant national parks, home to over 1,800 plant species, including rare wildflowers. The park offers hiking trails, breathtaking views, and unique fauna, including kangaroos, emus, and rare bird species.

We visited Bremer Bay during our trip in November, treating the place more as a “stopover” between Albany and Esperance. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the town and especially the local nature. Since Bremer Bay is essentially off the beaten path, you won’t run into many tourists here. During a long walk on the beach, we met one lady with dogs and that was it. Keep this in mind when shopping for food, though, as we didn’t come across a grocery store here. We must also mention Blossoms Beach, which stretches across part of the bay and can also be seen from a nearby lookout.

One of the main attractions of Bremer Bay is orca watching, but be careful—it’s only during a specific period. From January to April, hundreds of orcas (Orcinus orca) migrate to the deep waters of Bremer Canyon. Boat trips offer the chance to see not only orcas but also other marine life, including dolphins, sperm whales, and huge schools of tuna.

For beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts, Bremer Bay offers a wide range of options. Blossoms Beach, John Cove, and Native Dog Beach are among the most beautiful beaches with fine white sand and azure water, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, surfing, or fishing. The local natural scenery is amazing, with dramatic cliffs, dunes, and vast stretches of wild coastline.
