Castelmola is a small town that provides a wonderful view of the famous Taormina and the whole coast, it is one of the most beautiful places in Sicily. Although the climb up to it can be challenging and there are countless twists and turns, Castelmola is definitely worth it. The town is about 10 minutes drive from Taormina, situated on top of a hill. It lives up to its name “Taormina in miniature”. The small narrow streets, decorated with flowers and ceramics, will really remind you of Taormina. But you’ll also find fewer tourists, great restaurants that are less touristy and even better views.
The views are one of the main attractions of Castelmola. From the town you can enjoy panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the (sometimes snow-capped) mountain peaks. Particularly at sunset, the views are beautiful and offer great conditions for unforgettable photographs.
Also, stop by one of the local cafes and try a “granita”, a refreshing ice cream drink made from traditional recipes. Explore the local shops and buy handmade items or souvenirs.
The dominant feature of the town is the Castello di Castelmola, which stands at the top of a hill. Built by the Saracens in the 10th century, it served as a defensive fortress during the Middle Ages. Today, you can visit its ruins and enjoy stunning views from its courtyard. Visiting the castle ruins are an unforgettable experience.

Oficiální parkování pro návštevu Castelmola. Několik parkovacích míst na strategickém místě označených modrou barvou. Do města je skutečně jenom kousek po schodech. I kvůli menšímu počtu parkovacích míst, většinou tady zaparkujete bez problémů. Cena za parkování není vysoká a jeho lokace ze všech nejlepší.

Výborná restaurace ve městečku Castelmola s úchvatným výhledem, chutným jídlem a dobrým servisem. Ceny za jídlo jsou spíš nižší a najíte se tedy mnohem levněji než v restauracích v Taormině. V nabídce jsou klasické italské jídla, no naleznete tady i například kuřecí řízek, který byl skvělým osvěžením k italské kuchyni. Co je na celý restauraci nejlepší jsou ale její výhledy na okolní kopce a moře.
