The mountain village of Fane Alm (740 m above sea level) is considered one of the most beautiful settlements in South Tyrol and we can only sign it. It is located in the Valstertal valley and has stood there since the Middle Ages. Around you will see beautiful rocky hills, mountain meadows and constantly clanking herds of cows that will catch your eye but fortunately only metaphorically. You can also have a hot meal and a good drink on site.
It’s also a great starting point for other trails in the area. From here we set off to the whistling of marmots to Wilder See and we can only recommend this route over the hills and ridges. But you can also head to the Bixner Hütte and more.
You can get there from the car park, which is only about 500 metres from the village, and the gravel road is ideal for strollers. It happened to us personally that someone closed the barrier in the parking lot from Mühlbach and wouldn’t let us in. If this happens to you, we recommend waiting for a lady with a van who will take you to the parking spot to Fane Alm for a few euros.
We’ll be happy to create a personalized itinerary.
