Faro de Anaga

Faro de Anaga is an iconic lighthouse on the northeastern tip of Tenerife. It is located in the Anaga area, which is known for its wild nature, steep cliffs and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse was commissioned in 1864 and has been helping ships navigate these waters ever since.

The lighthouse is built on a high cliff, which gives it an excellent position for scattering light over a long distance. The structure itself is simple and functional, with the main tower being cylindrical in shape and attached to the living area where the lighthouse keepers once lived, although it is now automated.

Access to the lighthouse is only possible on foot, providing a unique experience, few tourists and a beautiful setting. The best route leads directly from the village of Chamorga, passing through Barranco de Chamorga to the fishing village of Roque de Bermejo and then climbing up to the lighthouse. From there it returns back to Chamorga. The route is moderately difficult, is 7.5 km long and offers spectacular views of the coast.
