Place description

The Lombo do Mouro waterfall is one of the many waterfalls in Madeira. Located just off the road and nearby car park in the Serra da Água plateau, they are accessible either by a short walk directly to the waterfall or can be incorporated into one of the longer routes through the mountains.

The waterfall looks best especially in spring and summer, when the hills and rock walls surrounding the falls are covered with a bed of yellow flowers that complement the waterfall perfectly. In addition to the Lombo do Mouro waterfall, there are a number of other nameless waterfalls, smaller or larger, in the vicinity; it is therefore worth continuing a little further along the way to discover Madeira’s other natural beauties.

In addition, the route climbs to a nearby peak after a while and provides stunning views of the entire Serra da Água mountain range, including views of the observatory at Pico do Arieiro and Madeira’s highest peak, Pico do Ruivo.
