Napoleon Bridge

This historic stone bridge crosses the deep turquoise Soca River, whose colour looks like something from another world – especially in sunny weather. The view from the bridge down to the flowing Soca, lined with rocks and greenery, is one of those scenes you’ll remember forever from your holiday in Slovenia.

Although there are still cars crossing the bridge, we recommend walking across it and enjoying it in peace. It is best to park near the Kobarid campsite and walk to the bridge. This will avoid traffic and stress and you can enjoy the views, take a photo and soak up the atmosphere of a place where history meets the beauty of Slovenian nature. Just count on the fact that you won’t be alone in the high season.

The bridge is named after Napoleon because his troops marched across it in the 19th century. Today, however, it is mainly a symbol of the connection between Kobarid and Soca – and a popular stop for lovers of beautiful views, photography and history.
