The source of the Úhlava River is located on the southeastern slopes of the Šumava ridge of Pancíř, at an altitude of approximately 1,215 metres. This remote and quiet corner of the Šumava is ideal for nature lovers and hikers who prefer unspoilt landscapes. The spring is easily accessible by marked hiking trails and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Near the spring, there is a popular trail leading to the top of Pancíř, from where you can see the panorama of Šumava and, on the other side, Bavaria.
In addition to its natural beauty, the Úhlava River is also interesting for history and technology lovers, as it feeds several reservoirs, including the Nýrsko Dam. These reservoirs serve as sources of drinking water for the towns in the region and also form nooks and crannies suitable for relaxation and walks.
