A visit to Reinebringen in the Lofoten Islands is an adventure worth experiencing. Reinebringen is known for its breathtaking views, steep stairs and fragile ecosystem. However, this place is very popular with tourists and can be quite crowded. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, it is recommended to go for a hike in the early morning or late afternoon, ideally at sunset.
The path to the top of the Reinebringen takes you over more than 1,900 steps, which were built to protect nature and increase safety for hikers. If you have a good level of fitness, the stairs will allow you to quickly and comfortably reach an altitude of 448 metres.
This hike is considered moderately strenuous, but the stair climb in particular can be really challenging. The trails are well maintained, but it is advisable to be prepared due to the steep climb. The trail is not very wide, so lines may form. There are a few places where you can take a break, but even so, this hike is not suitable for complete beginners. However, the average hiker with enough water should be able to handle this hike.
You will be rewarded for your efforts with breathtaking views of the picturesque town of Reine, the jagged fjords and the majestic Lofoten mountains. This place is literally a paradise for photographers and lovers of Norwegian nature.
It is important to follow a few rules when visiting this place. Dogs are not allowed on the Reinebringen to protect the local ecosystem, so it is better to leave them at home or in the car. Since 2023 it is possible to take dogs along on a leash, but due to the width of the trail and the number of steps, we really don’t recommend it. Also, stick to the marked trails and respect the rules of nature management. We recommend doing this hike in good visibility and good weather, or waiting for the weather to clear at the top.
Visits to the Reinebringen may be limited seasonally due to weather conditions. During the winter months, the Reinebringen can be covered in snow and ice, making the journey to the summit dangerous and difficult.
Parking is available at several pay parking lots in Reine. However, we recommend the alternative below with free parking and the same distance.

Poloobloukové asfaltové parkoviště Steffenakken má kapacitu pro zhruba 15 obytných nebo osobních vozů. Během dne bývá dost frekventované, ale v noci je velmi klidné, přestože je umístěno přímo u cesty. Jeho vynikající poloha vám umožní navštívit nejen Djupfjordbrua, který se nachází hned vedle, ale je to od nej i blízko k známému Reinebringenu, nebo do městečka Reine. Navíc je tohle parkování zdarma, co v Reine nenaleznete. Oproti asfaltovému parkovišti je k dipozici odpočívadlo na nezpevnené cestě, kde můžete vůz taky parkovat. Bez veškerých služeb.
