Santana is a charming village on the north coast of the island. It is known for its traditional thatched-roof houses, called palheiros, and its picturesque setting amidst the lush greenery of the surrounding mountains and forests. The unique houses are a distinctive feature of Santana, they show you the rural life of Madeira and are also where many tourists head. You can explore the narrow streets of the village, visit the Santana Municipal Museum to learn about the history and traditions of the region, and enjoy panoramic views from various vantage points.
We parked in the parking house right in the center, it was quite full, but it was enough to wait a while and the space became available.
