Place description
Seceda is located in the Italian Dolomites, not far from the town of Brixen. In winter it is a ski resort, but even in summer the lifts are not unused. There is a car park right down by the cable car. There are two lifts leading up – first Ortisei-Furnes, which is a smaller cabin, and then Furnes-Seceda, which is a larger cabin for more people. You can mix it up and walk part of the way and take the cable car, we took the dog up. But even from the cable car, the views of Seceda itself and the surrounding mountains are incredible.
After the cable car takes you up, take a short walk along the narrow sandy paths along the rocky overhang. At the top, near the top station of the cable car, you can have a good meal and drink to recharge your batteries for the return journey. We recommend that you take a small snack with you and sit on the hillside leading up to the mountain itself, on the edge of the overhang. You won’t easily find such a unique place for a roll with paté or tartan anywhere else.
