The Wasserlochklamm is located in the Austrian state of Styria. This natural monument is unique for its karst spring “Wasserloch”, from which water flows under pressure into a deep rock cut. The total length of the trail in the gorge is approximately 900 metres, during which visitors climb 325 metres. Over this relatively short distance, the trail passes five main waterfalls, the highest of which is 39 metres high, and a number of smaller cascades. The design of the trail consists of a set of wooden footbridges, steps and bridges that are sensitively set into a narrow rock canyon.
During our visit, we were impressed right from the start by the 65-metre-long suspension bridge, which arches 21 metres above the emerald-clear Salza River and serves as a gateway to the gorge itself. The climb up is quite challenging and will test your fitness – you’re practically constantly climbing up wooden steps along the roaring water, but this is amply compensated by the ever-changing views of the falls. Although the trail is designed as a loop that turns at the top and heads back down through the forest to the parking lot, we found that the route can be shortened if you get tired or the weather is inclement. In this case, you return from the highest point by the same route down the stairs, allowing you to view the falls once more from a different angle.
Before you go, it is important to take into account that there is a fee for entering the Wasserlochklamm. As the entrance to the site is through a turnstile at the ticket office, opening hours are strictly limited (usually from April to October). We therefore recommend that you arrive well in advance of closing time so that you have at least two hours to climb and return safely.
We’ll be happy to create a personalized itinerary.

Naprosto skvělé ubytování a kemp na hranici národního parku Gesäuse, které je velmi dobrým výchozím bodem pro výlety do celého okolí. Nabízí zde chatky, místa pro karavany a stany, včetně plnohodnotného zázemí.
