Place description
The Bára lookout tower is located in the Pardubice Region, specifically on Čertova skalka in the Chrudim urban forest. This unique wooden lookout tower has a triangular shape and is the work of architect Martin Rajniš and according to his words, this construction is unique not only in Europe, but probably in the whole world.
What can be enjoyed here
- Panoramic view of the Iron Mountains, the Eagle Mountains and the Giant Mountains from the top of the tower.
- A small snack bar is open during the season and is located next to the lookout tower.
- Playground: Next to the refreshment stand is a small forest playground suitable for children aged 2-6 years.
- A walk along the hiking trail to Kočičí hrádek – a miniature of a castle, which will attract especially children.
- Covered fireplace: There is a covered fireplace under the rock where you can roast sausages. In the nearby forest you can collect dry wood.
- Menhir: At the crossroads of three hiking trails southwest of the Bára lookout tower, a menhir was erected, symbolic guardian of the gate of the Iron Mountains
- Rock formation for climbers: below the lookout tower there is a steep rock called Čertova skalka, about 15 metres high. This rock serves beginner climbers and is equipped with several belay points. Climbing is only suitable under the supervision of an experienced climber.
- Rope park: Now under construction, expected completion date is April 2025
This wooden building has an estimated lifespan of 20 years, so don’t hesitate to visit it as soon as possible!
