Place description

In the heart of the Šumava National Park, Třístoličník stands out above the surrounding landscape. It is a place where three countries meet – the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria. From here, you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding vast landscape and in winter it is literally an ice kingdom. It’s a good thing there’s a chalet up there where you can warm up with tea, mulled wine and some of those chalet classics.

Třístoličník is a paradise for lovers of outdoor activities. The surrounding forests offer great opportunities for hiking and cycling. In winter it is a paradise for cross-country skiers or snowshoers. But you can also go up in a pair of snowshoes.

The dominant feature of Třístoličník is the lookout tower, which provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape and is one of the best places to watch the sunset. That’s why it’s also a favourite spot for many photographers.

Parkoviště zdarma při Novém Údolí, které je skvělým výchozím bodem na Třístoličník. Oficiálně je tohle parkování, už v Německu, ale nebojte od Nového Údolí a hraničného přechodu je vzdáleno 200 m. Alternativou je zanechat auto na železniční stanici v Novém údolí, na které je ale limitovaný počet míst k parkování a nespočet cyklistů a turistů. Tohle parkoviště je prašné, ale prostorné a máte ho přímo na okruhu vaší cesty nahoru na Třístoličník.
