Place description

Meelup Beach is one of the other beautiful beaches in Western Australia and is located near the town of Dunsborough, in the Margaret River region. The beach is surrounded by a natural park that offers shady picnic areas, barbecue grills and well-maintained trails that run along the shoreline.

Meelup Beach is located in the Wadandi Noongar boodja, which is the traditional territory of the Wadandi tribe, who have inhabited the area for at least 48,000 years. It is said that Meelup means ‘place of the rising moon’ because the full moon looks like it is rising from the ocean for several days a year.
