Trollstigen

Trollstigen, known as the Troll Road, is a magical mountain road in Norway leading from Åndalsnes to Valldal. This breathtaking route is roughly 20 kilometres long and is famous for its eleven twisty turns, steep slopes and high cliffs.

For the best experience, it is ideal to visit Trollstigen between the months of June and September when the road is fully open and the weather is at its best. Although the area is a popular tourist spot, especially during the summer season, you can still find a quiet place to stop on the side of the road away from the main car park and enjoy the beauty of nature.

In the heart of Trollstigen you will find a modern visitor centre, which is a great place for anyone who wants to find out more about the place. The centre offers a number of interactive displays that will give you a better understanding of the history and geology of the area. If you’re hungry or in the mood for something good to drink, there’s also a café on site with a view. Plus, you can find unique souvenirs and memorabilia in the gift shop.

It is not uncommon to see sheep grazing in the area, which adds to the charm of the place. We recommend arriving in the early morning or late afternoon for an optimal experience without the crowds.
