Trondheim, Norway’s third largest city, is a fascinating blend of history and modern life. Situated on the banks of the Nidelva Fjord, Trondheim is a city with a rich history that you’ll love at first sight.

Nidarosdomen (Nidaros Cathedral) is an impressive Gothic work and one of the largest Christian monuments in Northern Europe. Its construction began in the 11th century and it remains a major pilgrimage site in Norway to this day. The picturesque Bakklandet district, with its colourful wooden houses and stone bridges, is again ideal for strolling.

Other attractions and sights in the city include Festung Kristiansten (Kristiansten Fortress), which offers stunning views of the city and gives you an insight into Trondheim’s history.

Enjoy a leisurely bike trip and discover the city from a different perspective! Trondheim is a friendly city for cyclists, with many trails that run along the river, the fjord and historic sites. We recommend you try one of the local cafes where you can enjoy delicious coffee and traditional Norwegian snails.

The city also boasts a number of excellent restaurants, so be sure to sample the local specialities. If you’re looking for a combination of culture, history and natural beauty, Trondheim is a place you shouldn’t miss. It was one of our favourite cities in Norway.
